Silent/Writing Retreat in May: "Don't be afraid"

Published Categorized as english
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_3aHappy to announce a silent/ writing retreat 25-28 May. This time Fanny Bernitez hopes to be our guest and she will lead us in one of the writing workshops. We bring writers into a quiet, contemplative setting. We also want to give people who are looking for a time of quiet, writing as a tool for contemplation. So, it is both ways. I am very excited about this, as Fanny has this natural gift for simplicity and sees the value of a home. Sometimes it helps to step away from home, to get refreshed and new focus. Five ladies signed up already, but there are still a few places left. Welcome!

The theme will be “Do not be afraid” which Jesus says twice, just after his resurrection and before his accension. We will listen to parts of the book of Jean Vanier: Drawn into the mystery of Jesus through the gospel of John. Each day we have a few chapel moments to give structure and depth to the weekend. And we will enjoy art and fellowship.
Please do forward this post to others, I just started doing this and my network is limited. Feel free to come with a friend, or invite somebody who would be interested.

Here are some of the questions that you might have….
Where is it and how do I get there?
The retreat will be in Szentistvan, a small town 1.5 hours east of Budapest. We will arrange airport pickup on Friday and Monday around lunchtime and make sure you get back at Budapest airport to catch your flight home afterwards (if you come by plane, of course.) But we will discuss these details later.
What do I need to bring with me?
Hard copy bible, and your personal things for a few days. (And a friend maybe?)
What kind of program can I expect?
You can expect three moments of chapel each day to give structure and depth. We will eat local food (as much as possible), have time for quiet prayer, silence, writing and fellowship. The idea is to really unplug from internet as well, to dive deeper into silence. (Want to read more: this is a short post about the previous retreat.)
I have special dietary requirements, can I still come?
Yes, certainly. Just let me know when you sign up and we will figure out what we can arrange.
Here are some links of possible interest:
Why should I sign up?
* for the writing workshop with Fanny Bernitez.
* you will get a few days off and find yourself refreshed (no cooking, dishes, cleaning, just being cared for and enjoying silence and time for God and yourself.)
* with this retreat you support the local people of Szentistvan,
* you help raise some support for the education of the Huisman-girls.

If this doesn’t answer a question that you have just let me know in the comments below and I’ll answer!
Looking forward to hearing from you…
(only two places left. Deadline for signing up: 10th of May)
